General Packing
Unless varied by special requirements, the following standards apply to the packing of your goods in cartons/containers for storage or removal.
Cushioning Material = Crushed white paper, foam beads or the like.
- Make Sure all items are completely dry prior to packing.
- Line bottom of carton with cushioning material pressed down firmly and evenly to a minimum depth of 5cm. If the items being packed are heavy or you are concerned, add to the depth of cushioning material.
- Place a layer of cushioning material to a depth of 5cm between each tier of articles packed in the carton.
- Fill in empty spaces in sides of cartons with cushioning material.
- Fill in empty space between top tier and lid of carton with cushioning material to a minimum depth of 5cm.
- Stow heaviest items on the bottom and lightest on the top.
- To prepare a bundle;
- completely wrap each item with white paper ensuring that edges are adequately protected and;
- wrap with white paper to form a bundle of no more than 6 items (e.g. plates). - Stow all bundles in carton on edge.
- Pack bundles tightly together to prevent movement, but do not "bow" sides or tops of cartons.
- Only pack like items, parts of sets, etc. in carton. Try to restrict, as far as possible, mixing china with glassware, glassware with kitchenware, etc.
- Seal the carton with packaging tape immediately it is packed, then label with a sticker or by marker pen showing;
- your name
- brief description of contents
- room where carton is to be placed on delivery
- destination (i.e.Sydney) - Ensure the outside of the container is marked to identify which way is up, if not obvious.
